In which Trevor and Nathan discuss Trevor's first two independent albums.

“Trevor?"

"Hmm?"

How come I never thought to try and find your independent albums?”

“Oh God Nathan, please don’t.”

“Why?”

“They’re crap.”

“Isn’t evolution part of the creative process?”

“Yeah, but---”

“Do you think your last record was crap?”

“Well, no, but---”

“It’s settled. I’m going on eBay.”

I typed ‘Trevor Harper independent album’ in the search bar. Seven listings popped up. I quickly added Just Me and To The Core to the cart before he could see the prices.

He leaned over my shoulder and gasped. “You are not spending four hundred dollars on them!”

“Too late,” I said, and clicked Confirm and Pay. “Done.”

“You’re insane.”

I stared at him. “No, your fans are insane for selling your merch at a ridiculous markup.”

He nodded.

I waited impatiently for Trevor’s two albums to arrive. After the mailman delivered the items, I snatched them from the mailbox and skipped to the studio, where Trevor was working on his new album. I didn’t actually skip, but you know what I mean.

“They’re here!” I screamed.

“Oh God.”

“We are listening to them right now.”

“What do you mean, ‘we’?”

“You and I.”

“No. I hate the sound of my voice.”

“Trevor, you sing for a living.”

“Weird, I know.”

“Come on,” I said and pushed the Just Me CD in the player.

The music started, and Trevor’s voice began to sing.

I raised my eyebrows. “Oh wow, you sound so young.”

He laughed. “Nathan, I was like twelve.”

I found it amusing how much he cringed, but didn’t want to torture him. “Go on, I’ll listen to the rest by myself.”

“You’re in my recording studio. Go annoy the twins with it.”

“Fair enough.”
